- I am half-American, half-Brazilian. Although I have lived abroad most of my life, the Boston area is currently home. This blog began as a way to diffuse frustration and accommodate random creativity during the time I spent writing my dissertation. The dissertation has since been defended and the Ph.D. in Comparative Literature awarded. This blog continues, though, because it's such a pleasure to share thoughts, ideas, and favorite poetry with people.

It is an ad that tugs at the heartstrings, but while it can seem a bit maudlin, it really does capture that desire to keep our loved ones safe from any harm.
